Anup Soni will be  honored with the ‘Common Man  in Cinema Award’ in RIFF

Monjurul Islam Megh : Indian Famous actor Anup Soni will be honored with the ‘Common Man  in Cinema Award’ in memory of Ompuri at  6th Rajasthan International Film Festival  (RIFF).  The  6th RIFF will held on 18 to 22 January 2020 in Rajasthan, India. 

The opening ceremony of the Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) will be held on January 18 at the open theater of Jawahar Kala Kendra and screening of films, seminars, workshops,talk shows, knowledge series will be held at Cinepolis, World Trade Park.

Finally on January 22 (RIFF) Award Night – 2020 will be held where best films, actors will be honored.

Like every year, this year also the which films from India and abroad will be shown on social issues.

The 6th edition of Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) will be organized by RIFF Film Club in Jaipur. The Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) has been given official recognition from the Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI).

Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) founder  Somendra Harsh told that Om Puri is a part of RIFF since the first edition. Ompuri ji also said that he is the custodian of RIFF and will remain so after he leaves. Ompuri Ji is still a RIFF Patron and will always be so to keep his memory, it was announced at the time of RIFF’s 3rd edition in 2018 that in memory of Shree Om Puri the special “Common Man in Cinema” award will be given.

In 2018, the Common Man in Cinema Award was given to noted actor and director Anant  Mahadevan. In 2019, the Common Man in Cinema Award was given to renowned actor Sushant Singh.This year the Common Man in Cinema Award will be given to Anup Soni at RIFF 2020.

Anup Soni is a graduate of the National School of Drama (NSD), educated under eminent theater personalities like Shri Ram Gopal Bajaj, Mr. Barry John,  Ms Anuradha Kapoor, Mr. Naseeruddin Shah and many more.

Anup is a prominent face in Theaters, Films and TV. Anup Soni started his career with roles in television serials such as Sea Hawks directed by Anubhav Sinha and then popular serials like Balika Vadhu & CID Special Bureau. He then took a break from television to work in films. He appeared in films like Hum Pyaar Tum Hi Se Kar Baithe , Gangajal, Apaharan, Khushi, Footpath and Hathayar.

Anoop Sony is interested in working in both films and television.Sony also anchors the very popular serial Crime Patrol on TV. Recently he played the main negative role in his first Marathi film “Fatteshikast”.He is currently starring in web series for Netflix, Amazon and Hot Star and some films. His stage play “Bolliganj 1990” is a suspense thriller playing successfully in the Theater Circuit.


Anshu Harsh, Managing Trustee of Riff Film Club stated that “The five-day event will include feature film screenings, seminars, workshops, talk shows, knowledge series and film performances. The film festival will also screen short films,documentary films, animation films and regional films   Filmmakers and students can submit their film by visiting the website of Riff Film Festival ” Last date of submission is 31st December, 2019.
